The Sommelier position at RPM Italian is a key role responsible for managing the restaurant's wine program to enhance the guest experience. As a Wine Steward or Sommelier, you will be entrusted with the selection, selling, and serving of bottled wines, requiring a current Sommelier certification. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of wine varieties, the ability to communicate effectively with both guests and staff, and the skill to support the restaurant's culinary offerings with well-paired wine selections. The Sommelier plays an essential role in ensuring the wine inventory is properly maintained, conducting wine tastings, providing education and training for the team, and leading the wine service operations. This position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, can manage multiple tasks with calm efficiency, and who values teamwork and excellent guest care. The Sommelier is also responsible for fostering professional relationships with wine purveyors and must adhere to ethical standards by not accepting gifts or cash for wine or liquor orders.
