Medical Coder and Biller

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Coder and Biller to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) systems. Your expertise will ensure precise billing processes, effective medical record management, and seamless communication with insurance providers. Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, and DRGs in compliance with current coding standards and guidelines.
• Ensure accurate entry of billing information into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for timely processing.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding accuracy.
• Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies, ensuring adherence to payer-specific requirements.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices to maximize reimbursements.
• Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations, insurance policies, and healthcare industry standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for documentation and coding purposes.
• Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, DRGs, and medical billing procedures.
• Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately and efficiently.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and insurance representatives.
