Job Description
Rightech is working with a local federal integrator who is building out a commercial training space for a federal agency in Laurel, MD. We are looking for three experienced, reliable Structured Cable Technicians to assist with the tenant's build-out. This is a four-to-six-week project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the building out of network infrastructure, including structured cabling, and installing network components. Candidates should be versed in running, terminating, testing and labeling Cat 6 and RJ45's.
This is a federal location and will require a federal background search and 10 panel drug screen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run, terminate, and test CAT 6 cables according to industry standards.
- Ability to terminate various modular jacks at the wall plate
- Safely work on ladders to install and maintain equipment at heights.
- Dress and route cable into IT closets, pathways, and other work area outlets.
- Cable management (dressing, labeling).
- Cable Termination (Patch Panel, Jacks, Keystones, RJ-45/Modular Plug).
- IT Closet Builds (MDF, IDF, Data rack, ladder rack, cable tray, sleeve installation)
- Read and follow blueprints set for installation.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in running, terminating and testing CAT 6 cables and installing network hardware.
- Experience with RJ45 Jacks.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work on ladders and overhead
- Solid understanding of cabling infrastructure.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Good communication skills to interact with team members and clients.
- Knowledge of safety practices related to working with electrical equipment, ladders, and power tools.

- Basic hand tools, Screwdriver (multi-Bit), Torpedo level, Tape measure, Snips, Pliers (needle nose and channel locks), Cable stripper, punch down tool, modular plug crimper, Flashlight, Fish tape, Electrical tape, Impact driver, Various sizes of wood, metal and masonry drill bits, Various sizes and types of driver bits
PPE:
- Safety Vest, Safety Glasses, Work Gloves, Hard Hat, Work Boots (Steel toe or composite)
