We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to manage and oversee the transportation operations within our logistics department. The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods, coordinating transportation schedules, liaising with carriers and vendors, and maintaining accurate records. This position plays a crucial role in optimizing transportation logistics, improving efficiency, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Transportation Operations:
- Plan and coordinate daily transportation activities, including routing, scheduling, and delivery of shipments.
- Work with carriers, freight forwarders, and third-party providers to secure transportation services.
- Monitor transportation routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues promptly.
- Shipment Tracking and Documentation:
- Track the status of shipments and provide updates to customers and internal teams.
- Maintain and update accurate transportation records, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, and delivery receipts.
- Ensure all necessary documentation for shipments is completed and compliant with company policies and regulations.
- Cost Management and Budgeting:
- Assist in the development and monitoring of transportation budgets and expenditure tracking.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and suppliers to ensure cost-efficient transportation solutions.
- Track transportation costs and report on cost-saving opportunities.
- Vendor and Carrier Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and carriers.
- Monitor and assess the performance of carriers, addressing any service or performance issues.
- Collaborate with vendors to improve transportation efficiency and reduce delivery delays.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with relevant transportation regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, safety standards, and environmental laws.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, trends, and best practices in transportation and logistics.
- Problem Solving and Issue Resolution:
- Proactively identify and resolve any transportation-related issues, including delays, damage, or lost shipments.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers to resolve disputes and ensure smooth deliveries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in transportation logistics, supply chain, or similar roles.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, shipping documentation, and safety standards.
- Experience with logistics management software (e.g., TMS - Transportation Management Systems).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of freight and carrier operations.
- Ability to analyze transportation data and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and logistics software.
Working Conditions:
