Job Description
Revolve Renewable Power, through its subsidiary WindRiver Power Corporation, is seeking a Plant Operator to support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of its run-of-river hydroelectric facilities in the Fraser Valley, British Columbia. This role supports two operating sites, Hunter Creek and Sakwi Creek, and is integral to maintaining plant availability, environmental compliance, and site readiness.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Plant Operator is responsible for day-to-day monitoring, inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance support, contractor coordination, and emergency response. The role combines field work, mechanical and electrical systems awareness, and strong operational discipline. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, responding to site issues in a timely manner, and operating in remote outdoor environments and active industrial settings.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can take ownership in the field, communicate clearly, and contribute to the long-term performance of clean energy assets.
Your day-to-day
- Operate and monitor hydroelectric generation equipment and associated balance-of-plant systems to support safe, efficient, and reliable power production.
- Conduct routine inspections of intakes, penstocks, powerhouse equipment, tailrace areas, access roads, security systems, and other civil, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure.
- Respond to plant alarms, abnormal operating conditions, forced outages, flood or debris events, and other operational issues when on duty.
- Support plant start-up, shutdown, isolation, dewatering, filling, flushing, and return-to-service activities in accordance with site procedures.
- Assist with troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, hydraulic, and auxiliary systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings, manuals, and operating procedures.
- Perform and document routine operating, inspection, maintenance, and housekeeping tasks.
- Coordinate and support specialized contractors, service providers, and technical specialists performing work at site.
- Maintain accurate logs, checklists, inspection records, maintenance records, and incident reports.
- Support compliance with plant operating requirements, including water management, environmental monitoring, ramping and flow-related procedures, and reporting obligations.
- Follow and actively promote company safety policies, safe work procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in on-call or variable scheduling arrangements and be available for after-hours response when required.
Working conditions
- Based in the Fraser Valley, BC, supporting Hunter Creek and Sakwi Creek hydro facilities.
- Combination of indoor powerhouse work, outdoor field work, and administrative/documentation tasks.
- Regular travel on forest service roads and work in remote natural environments.
- May involve adverse weather, steep terrain, and after-hours callout response.
- Variable schedule and on-call availability may be required.
Health, safety, and compliance
The successful candidate will be expected to work within Revolve’s safety management system and complete or maintain training relevant to the role. Site procedures point to the importance of electrical safety, lockout, working alone, WHMIS, fall protection, confined space awareness, fuel handling, and other task-specific safety competencies.
- Red Seal Industrial Electrician, Red Seal Millwright, Power Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Technologist, or a related engineering degree or technical certification.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant industrial experience in power generation, hydroelectric operations, heavy industrial maintenance, utilities, or similar environments.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues in the field.
- Experience with hydroelectric facilities, water control systems, rotating equipment, PLC/HMI-based systems, or industrial automation is an asset.
- Experience with instrumentation and control systems is an asset.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and exercise sound judgment in remote operating environments.
- Strong written, verbal, and computer skills.
- Valid BC driver’s licence in good standing.
