Job Description
About the Company:
Zicoto is a family-run e-commerce business founded in 2019 by Jan and Carrie. Our company designs and sells beautiful stationery, planners, home decor, baby products, and more on Amazon. Over 5 million products sold, more than 100,000 five-star ratings, and a team of 25 people across four countries.
Our approach is simple: beautiful products at a fair price. Our customers choose our products because they look and feel better than the alternatives. We are not a big corporation with layers of process. We move fast, we care about what we make, and we want someone who shares that energy.
About the Role
We are looking to hire a motivated, experienced
Lead Product Designer
who can own the design vision for our entire product catalog. Not just execute designs (we have talented product designers for that), but set the direction. Someone who walks into a new product category, quickly understands what’s working and what’s not, and knows exactly where the design opportunity is.
This is a
Full-Time remote position.
We are looking for a Lead Product Designer specifically with these requirements:
- 5+ years in product design, with at least 2+ years in a design leadership or art direction role
- Proven track record designing physical consumer products for the U.S. mass market (ideally stationery, home goods, baby/kids, lifestyle, gifting)
- Deep understanding of what appeals to U.S. consumers, especially women (our core customer)
- Experience setting design direction across multiple product categories simultaneously (not just one niche)
- Experience managing or mentoring other designers: ability to brief, review, and elevate others work
- Comfortable with AI-assisted design workflows
- Self-motivated, proactive, and good at communicating across time zones
Nice to Haves:
- Advanced AI Skills (Nano Banana etc.)
- Experience with Amazon product listings or e-commerce
- Illustration skills (hand-drawn patterns, custom artwork)
- Experience working with manufacturers or understanding production constraints
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, or similar tools
Your responsibility will include (but not limited to):
- Own the design vision across all ZICOTO product categories: home decor, stationery, baby & kids, kitchen, gifting, and new categories as we expand
- Research and analyze U.S. consumer design trends across multiple categories
- Identify design opportunities and gaps in the Amazon marketplace
- Create detailed design briefs with specific direction on colors, typography, patterns, mood, and styling with the help of AI
- Review and elevate designs created by our product designer
- Collaborate with product development on new launches (we do 100-150 per year)
Growth Opportunities/Perks:
- Full-time contractor
- Fully remote (U.S.-based strongly preferred, or deep familiarity with U.S. market)
- Annual team bonuses for high performance
- Multiple in-person team events
- Flexible time off (as needed)
- Work within a diverse, global team committed to shared success
- A relaxed, family-like company culture that values trust, loyalty, and simplicity
You’re not a fit for this role if…
❌ You’re mainly an executor and haven’t set design direction across a full product line.
❌ You don’t have experience designing physical consumer products for the U.S. mass market.
❌ You’ve only worked in one category and haven’t handled multiple product categories simultaneously.
❌ You haven’t led or mentored designers - this role requires elevating others, not just your own work.
❌ You’re not comfortable working fast, using AI, and making clear, opinionated design decisions at scale.
Our hiring process is made up of four parts, so please be aware that you will need to dedicate time for a questionnaire, a video, and two 1-on-1 interviews.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this position. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
