Job Description
Overview
Regent is a global private holding company focused on acquiring businesses and realizing exponential growth through operational improvements and strategic capital deployment. Since its inception, Regent has successfully acquired businesses from leading Fortune 500 and large-cap companies. Our investments span the globe and operate across a wide array of industry verticals, with a significant presence across the United States and Europe.
We are seeking an Director, Human Resources to own all aspects of human resources across Regent's U.S. operations — including HR operations, compensation, employee relations, and M&A due diligence — while serving as a strategic partner to firm leadership and portfolio company HR heads. This is a five-days-per-week, in-office role based in Beverly Hills, CA.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal HR partner to Regent's Chairman, providing timely, candid counsel on all people-related matters and re-aligning priorities dynamically as business needs evolve
- Lead and develop a team across benefits, payroll, HR operations, and employee relations
- Provide strategic HR oversight and guidance to U.S.-based portfolio company HR leaders
- Own the design and administration of firm-wide compensation structures, incentive programs, and benefits plans across Regent's U.S. portfolio
- Oversee payroll operations and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Lead HR due diligence and post-close integration efforts across Regent's M&A activity, including workforce assessments, org design, leadership transitions, and compensation harmonization — with particular experience in turnaround and restructuring scenarios
- Partner with portfolio company leadership to address complex employee relations matters, organizational change initiatives, and workforce restructuring as needed
- Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and infrastructure to support a growing, multi-entity portfolio operating across diverse industries
- Monitor and advise on employment law developments and HR best practices across U.S. jurisdictions, with awareness of European HR frameworks a plus
- Provide regular reporting to firm leadership on HR metrics, compensation benchmarking, and workforce trends across the portfolio
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with significant time in a senior HR role spanning multiple business entities or portfolio companies simultaneously
- Demonstrated experience leading HR through M&A transactions, with direct involvement in due diligence, post-close integration, and workforce restructuring — particularly in turnaround or distressed scenarios
- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, principal-facing environment with a single owner or founder, exercising sound judgment and a high degree of discretion
- Deep functional expertise across HR operations, compensation and benefits design, payroll, and employee relations
- Experience managing and developing a team of senior HR professionals
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law across multiple states; familiarity with European HR frameworks (France, Germany, UK) is a meaningful plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust quickly across all levels of an organization — from Chairman to portfolio company employee
- Highly organized and solutions-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities across a complex, multi-entity environment
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification preferred
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in applicable jurisdictions, Regent, L.P. includes a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This accounts for the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, and certifications.
