Senior Fullstack Engineer, Notifications Engagement

About the role 

The Notifications team at Reddit helps us achieve our mission of bringing community and belonging to everyone in the world by delivering users engaging content at the right time. We deliver hundreds and millions of push notifications and emails to Reddit users every day. We are solving both product and engineering problems for a fun magnitude of scale . We are hiring a Senior Fullstack Engineer to serve as Tech Lead for a cross-platform team to help us bring Reddit to more people. This Senior Fullstack Engineer role will be 70% backend and 30% frontend.

What You’ll Do:

• Build with Impact: build across the stack fun product experiences across notifications, email and inbox for hundreds of millions of users around the world
• Collaborate with a talented team of engineers within your direct team and across the company, also work with XFN partners in Product, Data Science, Machine Learning and Design
• Be a multiplier: mentor and coach other engineers 
• Be a thought leader and contribute to both our product and technical strategy

You Have:

• 8+ years software engineering experience, with experience in working cross-functionally to lead projects from start to finish with end user impact.
  • We are language agnostic when hiring but use primarily golang, python in the backend stack; typescript on web
  • We are looking for someone who has roughly equal experience both on: a web platform and a distributed backend service stack
  • Experience with GraphQL, gRPC and the ability to design and implement robust APIs
• A past track record of Quality, for example:
  • Enabling a testing culture, such as unit testing, setting up load testing framework, enabling local testing or other automated testing. 
  • Structurally improving the resiliency and fault tolerance of systems or code
  • Performance tuning database queries or network calls
  • Experience with fullstack designs that cover across native and web concerns
• Collaboration skills: You work well with a team, but also help level-up those around you.
  • You may demonstrate skills in one or more of the following: written/verbal communication, project leadership, mentorship, negotiating conflict, or engineering culture improvements.
