Job Summary

Cigna is seeking a highly skilled Senior MongoDB Database Administrator with strong leadership capabilities to join the Production Support team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in MongoDB operations, database administration, Linux environments, and automation.

This role involves leading MongoDB operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of database systems while collaborating with engineering teams and internal stakeholders to support enterprise-level applications.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain MongoDB database servers across all environments

Provide production support and participate in on-call rotations

Design and implement high availability, redundancy, and failover strategies

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance

Design and manage backup and restoration strategies based on data retention policies

Perform database upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities

Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams for database solutions

Mentor and guide junior team members

Recommend and implement MongoDB best practices

Diagnose and resolve critical production issues efficiently

Ensure compliance with internal policies and governance standards

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)

Strong knowledge of MongoDB architecture and administration

Experience with manual MongoDB builds and configurations

Experience with MongoDB Ops Manager for automation and management

Expertise in replica sets and sharded clusters

Experience Required

Proven experience in production support environment

Strong experience in database performance tuning, scaling, and optimization

Exposure to other databases like PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MySQL/MariaDB (preferred)

Experience in Linux server administration
