Role Description
This is a subcontractor, full-time, on-site role for a Horizontal Directional Driller located in Fort McMurray, AB. The subcontractor will be responsible for setting up and operating directional drilling equipment to complete various underground utility installations. Daily tasks include executing drilling plans, conducting inspections of equipment, maintaining machinery, and adhering to all safety protocols and industry regulations. Collaboration with the RD Utility Group team and reporting to supervisors are critical components of this role. As a subcontractor, you will manage your own tools, equipment (unless otherwise arranged), insurance, and business compliance while working under RD Utility Group's project direction.
Qualifications
- Experience and expertise in Heavy Equipment operation and maintenance
- Proficiency in Drilling and Directional Drilling techniques
- Ability to perform regular inspection of equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Knowledge and experience in Oil & Gas industry operations as it relates to horizontal drilling
- Understanding of workplace and job site safety procedures
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Physical ability to work in varying weather conditions and handle strenuous tasks
- Valid driver’s license required; Class 1A or 3A license is an asset
- Certifications in safety and heavy equipment operation are considered an advantage
- Must be legally able to work as a subcontractor in Canada (e.g., possess or be willing to obtain a GST/HST number and liability insurance)
