Job description

Our client, is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Business Analyst - IT I to join their specialized Technology Risk and Enterprise GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) division.

In this entry-to-intermediate professional role, you will support critical strategic initiatives within the Operational Risk domain. You will act as a key functional resource responsible for analyzing business workflows, translating operational needs into clear technical specifications, and supporting risk-related data architecture projects. Operating within a mature Agile environment, you will bridge the gap between risk management stakeholders and cloud data engineering squads to ensure compliance, transparency, and data integrity across enterprise platform structures.

Duration: 6-Month Contract.

Responsibilities

Business Process Analysis: Analyze, map, and document active enterprise workflows governing risk identification, control assessment, and technical mitigation paths.

Requirements Elicitation: Collaborate across distributed business lines to elicit, define, and document robust business and functional requirements for incoming Risk IT enhancements.

Technical Artifact Design: Author, structure, and maintain clear Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), process flows, and detailed functional specifications.

Source-to-Target Data Mapping: Apply relational data concepts to design accurate source-to-target data mapping schemas and document end-to-end data flows destined for enterprise data lake ingestion.

Agile Sprint Delivery: Partner directly with software development squads to track delivery goals, participate in Scrum ceremonies, and manage user stories using Jira.

Exploratory Data Triage: Execute systemic gap analysis and exploratory data analysis to discover automation opportunities, validate data accuracy, and inform software solution design.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 2 years of proven professional experience operating as an IT Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or in a structurally related systems engineering role.

Technical Documentation Mastery: Demonstrated capability to translate abstract business processes into high-fidelity technical manuals, system flows, and data line-of-business mappings.

Advanced Data Analysis & SQL: Strong proficiency writing and executing SQL queries to isolate, manipulate, and analyze relational database schemas.

Agile Framework Alignment: Solid understanding of Agile delivery lifecycles, with direct experience working inside Scrum teams and managing tickets within Jira.

Data Lake Literacy: Functional working knowledge of enterprise data lake architectures and modern cloud-based data storage infrastructure patterns.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field.

Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical problem-solving capabilities paired with precise, clear written and verbal communication skills; a proactive team-oriented colleague who can operate comfortably across multidisciplinary squads.

Preferred Qualifications / Assets

Hands-on configuration or analytical experience with RSA Archer or similar enterprise GRC software platforms.

Foundational familiarity with regulatory frameworks and guidelines governing operational corporate risk (such as Basel or OSFI guidelines).

Exposure to corporate cloud ecosystems, specifically Azure data services (Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Azure Databricks).

Practical experience working with business intelligence and report building platforms (e.g., Power BI or Tableau).

Professional certifications in formal business analysis (e.g., ECBA, CCBA), Agile methodologies (e.g., CSM, CSPO), or institutional risk management.
