The Role
Job Title: Art Teacher (FS - Year 8 Specialist Teacher)
Reporting to: Director of Creative Arts
Key Responsibilities of the Art Teacher (FS - Year 8 Specialist Teacher)
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver high-quality Art teaching across Foundation Stage to Year 8, aligned with the Cambridge International framework and the school’s educational philosophy.
- Create an inspiring, inclusive classroom environment that encourages experimentation, originality, and confidence in artistic expression.
- Employ a range of age-appropriate pedagogical approaches to support diverse learners and promote creative thinking.
- Maintain high standards of classroom practice, behaviour, and student engagement.
Performance & Events
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of art exhibitions, performances, displays, and special school events.
- Support whole-school creative showcases and celebrations that highlight student achievement and artistic excellence.
- Encourage student participation in internal and external creative events, where appropriate.
Curriculum Design & Assessment
- Design and implement well-sequenced schemes of work that ensure clear progression in skills, techniques, and creative understanding.
- Use formative and summative assessment effectively to monitor progress, inform teaching, and support individual learning pathways.
- Collaborate with the Director of Creative Arts to review and enhance curriculum quality across FS–Year 8.
Professional Engagement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, pastoral teams, and school leaders to support students’ holistic development and wellbeing.
- Engage actively in professional development, reflective practice, and collaborative planning.
- Maintain clear, professional communication with parents in line with school expectations.

The Person
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art, Art Education, or related performing arts discipline.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE, or international equivalent).
- Familiarity with the Cambridge International Curriculum and assessment frameworks (Checkpoint, IGCSE, A-level) is preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience in Art, ideally in an international or Cambridge school setting.
- Experience organising and leading art competitions, exhibitions, school events, and co-curricular art programmes.
- Experience in planning engaging learning experiences and assessing creative outcomes effectively.
- Proven ability to inspire and motivate learners of all abilities in both classroom and performance settings.
