As Development Chemist, you will work within the APAC Product Development Team , located in Kolkata, India. Focused on improving our products in order to meet customer needs , solve application problems and staying up to date on new market trends such as increasing sustainable sourcing, new technology applications and whatever comes next.
What will you do?
- Develop and improve our formulations used in the APAC Surface Chemistry market, focused on meeting customer needs such as enhancing performance, safety and quality improvement.
- Carry out all lab work necessary for tests, benchmarking and determinations, in order to answer questions and provide new solutions to customers as well as perform customer requested product analysis.
- Participate in product development projects as part of an experienced team and in cooperation with all involved parties such as Operations, Supply Chain & Commercial.
- Provide analytical service and knowledge to internal and external customers based upon the chemists’ current level of expertise. Visit customers when required to assist the Commercial team.
- Ensure that all equipment and machines in your area of control are managed with regards to safety, maintenance, calibration, and availability.
- Perform project work in cooperation with a variety of internal and external contacts.

What do we look for?
- Experience: Relevant working experience in a similar role, ideally within the chemical sector. Knowledge of Lubricants, greases, oils, coatings or other surface science related subjects is highly valued.
- All necessary product training is provided upon onboarding by our senior Development Chemist team.
- Ideal opportunity for someone who is motivated to work with both chemical & physicochemical matters and with a good balance between benchwork, theoretical work and shop floor interaction.
- Education: Chemistry related bachelor degree studies. Interest or background in physical/organic chemistry, colloid chemistry and/or metallurgy.
- Language skills: English at a professional level is required.
- Soft skills: Fast learner, pragmatic, growth mind-set, good communicator and influencer, team player and intrinsic curiosity in the soft skills.
- High safety consciousness is a must. Safety is at the core of our culture.
