Job Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and adaptable Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join a dynamic service delivering care across both acute and community settings in Cumbria. This role involves cross-site working between Carlisle and Whitehaven, providing specialist assessment, management and treatment for adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
This position is suitable for a Band 6 therapist with solid acute experience or an experienced Band 7 clinician who is confident working autonomously across a range of settings. You will play a vital role in supporting adults across the acute pathway as well as within community services, contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with communication and swallowing disorders across acute and community settings.

Manage a varied caseload, supporting patients across different stages of their care pathway.

Work cross-site between Carlisle and Whitehaven, adapting service delivery to meet local needs.

Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across hospital and community services.

Maintain accurate, timely and professional clinical records in line with NHS and professional standards.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:

Band 6–level experience (or above) working with adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.

Experience across acute adult settings, with the ability to contribute to community-based care.

HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

Strong clinical reasoning, organisational and communication skills.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with the ability to travel across Cumbria between service sites.
