Pharmacist Assistant

Job Summary

Independent Pharmacy seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy staff and ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications accurately and efficiently
• Prepare prescription orders for review by pharmacists
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed
• Enter patient information and prescriptions into the pharmacy system
• Fill Prescriptions, process insurance claims and handle billing inquiries and labeling medications with great accuracy
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals
• Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries in a professional manner
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area
• Adhere to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulations
• Preparing Blister packs
• Handle prescription pick up and cashing patients out.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Assistant preferred
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations preferred
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and software preferred
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
• Fillware software knowledge preferred.

Skills

• Medication administration: Proficient in accurately dispensing medications according to prescriptions.
• Patient care: Demonstrates empathy, compassion, and professionalism when interacting with patients.
• Medical terminology: Possesses knowledge of medical terms commonly used in a pharmacy setting.
• Pharmacy technician: Familiarity with pharmacy operations, including inventory management and prescription processing.
• Fillware software knowledge preferred.
