The Prince George's County Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) is currently seeking highly qualified applicants to fill a Marketing & Outreach Program Specialist (Community Developer 3G) grade G24 position in the Office of Transportation.

About The Position

This is a senior professional level, transportation demand management (TDM), multimodal transportation specific knowledge, grant development, and program management position whereby the incumbent assignments include Commuter Connection grant administration, The Bus Marketing, Capital Bikeshare Program, Corporate Membership program management; initiating programs regarding the marketing and promotion of alternative programs to include carpools, vanpools, bicycle and pedestrian safety programs and transportation subsidies at the employer level. This is an essential position.

About The Agency

The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is responsible for nearly 2,000 miles of County-maintained roadways that range from rural to urban classifications. The transportation infrastructure includes 900 bridges, as well as shoulders, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, stormwater management facilities, driveway aprons and nearly 3,000 acres of grassy area -- all of which are maintained by staff of the Department. DPW&T’s workforce keeps the County’s various services moving by performing a myriad of activities which include removing snow and ice from County-maintained roadways, upgrading traffic signals, installing streetlights, clearing fallen trees, unclogging drainage inlets and maintaining stormwater management facilities, as well as performing roadway repairs ranging from potholes and sidewalk trip hazards to bridge repairs and resurfacing projects and more.

Examples of Work

  • Manages the execution of the Regional Commuter Connection Agreement through the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government (MWCOG) in collaboration with Montgomery, Arlington, Alexandria counties and the District of Columbia.
  • Analyzes transportation data, reports, and statistics related to the Rideshare and other TSM/TDM programs; enters rideshare match requests and other required information.
  • Investigates and responds to rideshare requests or complaints.
  • Plans and organizes tasks to ensure that priority complaints and correspondence are handled immediately, timely, and meet established deadlines.
  • Prepares memoranda, letters, reports, logs, maps, and other graphics relating to public rideshare and other transportation/transit services.
  • Develops the annual Rideshare and Employer Outreach Grant application and scope of services.
  • Responsible for the administration and implementation of the Rideshare/Employer Outreach grants as well as the Local Bus grants.
  • Communicates with regional partners, employees, and elected officials.
  • Coordinates ADA/Outreach programs for seniors and the disabled with Federal, State, and local agencies and staff as required.
  • Develops strategies to increase transit usage within the County as well as non-auto Driver Mode Share (NADMS).
  • Makes presentations and prepares correspondence, reports, and analysis.
  • Participates as an Essential employee in the Department's Snow and Ice Control Program and other emergency or special activities as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Service, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of responsible community development supervisory work.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Please note there is no equivalency for the required supervisory experience.

Salary Range Transparency: The salary range listed in this announcement reflects the offer range for this position. Offers made within this range are based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
  • Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
  • Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings.
  • Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee in the department's Snow and Ice Control Program and during other emergency/special activities as assigned. This position is essential. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
