The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the execution of inventory transactions and maintenance of inventory accuracy across internal locations and third-party processors. This role manages the posting of work orders, monitors inventory levels, and coordinates material movements to support operational requirements. Working closely with operations, sales support specialists, and third-party processors, the role ensures alignment between physical inventory and system records, supporting efficient production and distribution. The position reports to the Inventory and Quality Manager and plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting continuous improvement of inventory processes.
Responsibilites
- Responsible for projecting a positive image of PRIDE Seeds / GDM /AgReliant Genetics
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism.
- Liaison to production, sales and sales support.
- Verify accuracy and completion of production orders, internal/external material transfers and receiving materials into inventory system.
- Review inventory cycle counts and provides results to management.
Inventory
- Complete data entry to ensure inventory control.
- Work with application (sales and inventory) program.
- Assist with maintenance of quality control records for all inventory items.
- Assist with maintenance of computerized inventory records for all stock items, both in a raw and finished state and verify correctness by physical counting and reconciling quantities to assure accuracy in the inventory program.
- Assist with initiating and managing all inventory creation activities, such as field and grower, receiving, bagging, rebagging, retagging, repositioning, transfers, and disposals.
- Assist in directing, overseeing, and reporting of a weekly program of cycle counting.
- Initiate and manage all inventory creation activities including receiving, bagging, rebag, retag, repositioning, transfers, and disposals.
- Communicate with the primary supply manager, warehouse, and other IQ members to facilitate all transfers and trades.
Logistics
- Coordinate paper flow between sales support team and warehouse team.
- Collaborate trucking using outside carriers for inventory transfers, including consumables for outside processors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for logistics related to wholesale, packaging, and raw material procurement, including import and export activities; provide timely, accurate, and professional responses to internal and external requests.
- Assist in other supply chain projects/tasks as needed.
Additional
- Weigh in and out trucks when required.
- Assist in annual inventory audit either.
- Duties may be added and amended by the Company as may be reasonably required.
Education / Experience
- Post secondary education in related field preferred.
- Agriculture background preferred.
- Data entry experience preferred.
- Experience in the seed industry preferred.
- Bilingual English and French an asset.
- 3+ years’ experience in related fields preferred.
Knowlede / Skills / Abilities
- Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management desired
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work alone or as part of a team, ability to think strategically, detail-oriented, and problem solver.
- Excellent organization and planning skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work required hours.
Notation
- Role is 40 hours per week, with occasional Saturdays and overtime, paid as an annual salary.
- “Regular” schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with one 30-minute unpaid break daily.
