Telecommunications Field Technician

Our client, a dynamic and growing telecommunications company, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunications Field Technician to join their installation and maintenance team serving Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, IN . This role is essential for ensuring the reliable delivery of telecommunications services, including internet, voice, and data, to residential and business customers. The ideal candidate will be proficient in installing, testing, and repairing a variety of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

Install, activate, and maintain telecommunications equipment and services at customer locations, including fiber optic cables, modems, routers, and other networking devices. Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot issues to identify and resolve technical problems with customer premise equipment and network connections. Respond to service calls and dispatch assignments in a timely and efficient manner. Educate customers on the use of installed equipment and services, ensuring their satisfaction. Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, utilizing appropriate safety equipment and practices while working. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service orders, test results, and equipment inventory. Collaborate with customer support and network operations teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues. Manage inventory of parts, tools, and equipment required for installations and repairs. Ensure a clean and professional appearance while on customer sites. Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on new technologies and company services. Identify opportunities for upselling additional services or equipment during customer interactions. Contribute to team efforts by sharing knowledge and assisting colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in telecommunications or electronics are highly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a field technician in the telecommunications, cable, or IT support industry. Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting broadband internet, voice, and video services. Familiarity with fiber optic termination and testing procedures. Knowledge of networking concepts, including IP addressing, Wi-Fi, and router configurations. Strong understanding of safety practices and experience working with tools and equipment safely. Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly. Proven problem-solving and diagnostic abilities. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet performance metrics. Valid driver's license and a good driving record. Physical ability to climb ladders, crawl in tight spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
