Telecom Field Technician - Fiber Optic Networks

Our client is looking for a skilled Telecom Field Technician to join their on-site team, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks. This role is critical to ensuring the reliable delivery of telecommunications services to residential and commercial customers. You will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks including cable pulling, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and customer premise installations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality service. Experience with fiber optic technologies and associated testing equipment is essential. Safety protocols and adherence to company procedures are paramount in this hands-on role.

Responsibilities: Install, test, and maintain fiber optic cables and related equipment. Perform cable pulling, splicing, termination, and connectorization of fiber optic lines. Utilize optical test equipment (OTDR, power meters, visual fault locators) to diagnose and resolve network issues. Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic network faults to restore service promptly. Install and configure telecommunications equipment at customer locations, including modems, routers, and ONT devices. Conduct thorough testing to ensure network performance meets specifications and quality standards. Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including test results and service orders. Respond to service calls and perform necessary repairs in a timely manner. Provide excellent customer service during installations and service calls. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers regarding job status and technical issues. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in telecommunications or fiber optics are highly desirable. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a telecom technician, specifically with fiber optic networks. Proficiency in fiber optic cable installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting techniques. Experience with OTDR, optical power meters, and other relevant test equipment. Knowledge of telecommunications network infrastructure and protocols. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in the field. Good communication and customer service skills. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as required. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. This position is based in **Surat, Gujarat, IN**, requiring the successful candidate to be present at various work sites within the region.
