Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead process optimization and innovation within their advanced production facility located in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, CA . This role is integral to enhancing manufacturing efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background in mechanical or industrial engineering, coupled with proven leadership skills and a hands-on approach.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and refine manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and yield. Design and select new manufacturing equipment and tooling. Oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of production machinery. Troubleshoot and resolve complex manufacturing issues to minimize downtime. Conduct root cause analysis for production defects and implement corrective actions. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Six Sigma). Collaborate with R&D, quality assurance, and production teams to support new product introductions. Manage manufacturing engineering projects, including timelines, budgets, and resources. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards. Analyze production data to identify areas for process improvement. Optimize factory layout and material flow for maximum efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, with a focus on process improvement. Proven experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and statistical process control (SPC). Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and simulation tools. Experience with automation and robotics in manufacturing environments. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills. Strong leadership and team collaboration abilities. Proficient in data analysis and interpretation for process optimization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in the automotive or advanced manufacturing sectors is highly desirable.
