Our client, a leader in innovative food product development within the FMCG sector, is seeking a talented Senior Food Scientist for their **Brampton, Ontario, CA** facility. This is a hands-on role requiring expertise in food science, product formulation, and process optimization. You will be at the forefront of creating exciting new food products that delight consumers and meet evolving market demands.

The Senior Food Scientist will be responsible for the end-to-end development of new food products, from ideation and concept testing through to pilot plant trials and commercialization support. This involves conducting laboratory-scale research, optimizing ingredient formulations, scaling up processes, and ensuring product quality, safety, and sensory appeal. You will work closely with marketing, R&D, quality assurance, and production teams to bring innovative products to market successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development of new food products from concept to commercialization, focusing on taste, texture, nutrition, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct formulation development, benchtop testing, and sensory evaluations. Optimize processing parameters and scale up products from laboratory to pilot plant and full-scale production. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, R&D, QA, and operations, throughout the product development lifecycle. Ensure product compliance with all food safety regulations and quality standards. Investigate and troubleshoot production issues related to product quality and performance. Stay current with food science advancements, industry trends, and emerging technologies. Develop and maintain detailed product development documentation, including specifications and trial reports. Contribute to intellectual property development through new product and process innovations. Mentor and guide junior food scientists and technicians. Qualifications:

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline. 7+ years of progressive experience in food product development within the FMCG industry. Strong knowledge of food chemistry, microbiology, and processing technologies. Proven experience with formulation, benchtop development, and pilot plant scale-up. Familiarity with quality assurance systems (e.g., HACCP, GMP). Excellent sensory evaluation skills and understanding of consumer preferences. Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively. Proficiency in relevant software and laboratory equipment. Experience in specific categories like beverages, dairy, bakery, or savory is a plus. This role is based on-site at our **Brampton, Ontario, CA** facility, offering a dynamic and collaborative work environment. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, creative, and results-driven food scientist passionate about innovation in the food industry.
