Senior Fleet Operations Manager - Logistics & Distribution

Our client, a prominent player in the logistics and distribution industry, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Fleet Operations Manager to oversee their vehicle fleet operations in Surat, Gujarat, IN . This role requires on-site presence and is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective management of a large fleet of vehicles. You will manage all aspects of fleet operations, including driver management, vehicle maintenance, route optimization, regulatory compliance, and fuel efficiency programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation management, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to improve operational performance. You will work closely with dispatch, maintenance, and safety teams to achieve operational excellence.

Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Manage and mentor a team of fleet supervisors, dispatchers, and drivers. Develop and implement strategies for route optimization to minimize mileage and delivery times. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including hours of service (HOS) and vehicle safety standards. Manage the vehicle maintenance program, including scheduled servicing, repairs, and inspections, to minimize downtime. Implement and monitor fuel management programs to reduce fuel costs. Oversee driver recruitment, training, and performance management. Develop and manage the fleet operations budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities. Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure the well-being of drivers and the public. Utilize fleet management software and telematics data to monitor vehicle performance, driver behavior, and operational efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in fleet management and operations. Proven experience managing large commercial vehicle fleets. Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, regulatory compliance (e.g., DOT regulations), and safety management. Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills. Proficiency in fleet management software and transportation management systems (TMS). Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment. Experience with budget management and cost control initiatives. Relevant certifications in fleet management or transportation are a plus. This is a key leadership role within our operations.
