Our client, a highly respected agricultural enterprise, is seeking a seasoned Senior Farm Manager to oversee operations at their expansive facility in Baltimore, Maryland . This pivotal role requires strong leadership, comprehensive knowledge of modern agricultural practices, and a commitment to operational efficiency and sustainability. You will be responsible for all aspects of farm management, including crop cultivation, livestock care (if applicable), equipment maintenance, staff supervision, and financial oversight. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in large-scale farming operations, a solid understanding of agronomy, crop protection, and resource management, along with excellent organizational and people management skills. This is an on-site role, essential for direct supervision and operational control.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily farm operations, ensuring efficient and effective execution of all activities. Develop and implement annual crop production plans, including planting, cultivation, and harvesting schedules. Manage soil health, fertilization, irrigation, and pest/disease control strategies. Supervise and train farm staff, assigning tasks and ensuring productivity and safety. Maintain and manage all farm equipment, vehicles, and infrastructure, ensuring proper maintenance and repairs. Develop and manage the farm's budget, controlling costs and maximizing profitability. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, safety, and agricultural regulations. Monitor crop progress and yield, making adjustments as needed to optimize outcomes. Manage inventory of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other farm supplies. Implement and promote sustainable farming practices. Maintain accurate records of all farm activities, expenses, and production data. Liaise with suppliers, customers, and agricultural experts.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in farm management or a related agricultural leadership role. Demonstrated expertise in crop production, soil management, and pest control techniques. Proven experience in managing farm operations, staff, and budgets. Strong knowledge of agricultural equipment operation and maintenance. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze data and make informed operational decisions. Understanding of relevant regulatory requirements and environmental best practices. Valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
