As a Senior Fleet Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing an extensive transportation fleet. Your role will involve managing all aspects of fleet operations to ensure efficiency, safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. You must possess a deep understanding of logistics, vehicle maintenance, driver management, and regulatory requirements within the transportation industry. Your strategic input will be crucial in developing and implementing operational strategies, managing budgets, and leading a team of fleet coordinators and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day fleet operations, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching.
  • Manage vehicle maintenance programs to ensure all vehicles are in safe and optimal working condition.
  • Develop and implement fleet policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage driver recruitment, training, performance, and compliance with driving regulations.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and implement strategies for cost reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage fleet budgets, control expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze fleet data to identify trends, optimize performance, and report key metrics.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Lead and develop a team of fleet management professionals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in fleet management or operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of fleet management software and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, DOT regulations, and safety standards.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Experience managing large budgets and complex operational challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
