Our client, a leader in the specialty chemicals industry, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their esteemed team. This role is based on-site and will involve significant hands-on involvement in process design, optimization, and troubleshooting for our client's manufacturing facilities. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and quality of our chemical processes, contributing to the development and production of innovative chemical products. This position demands a strong technical foundation, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven track record in chemical engineering.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for new and existing products, ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness. Conduct process simulations and modeling using specialized software to predict and improve performance. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in chemical manufacturing plants, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) protocols and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. Prepare detailed engineering specifications, P&IDs, and technical documentation for process equipment and systems. Collaborate with R&D, operations, and quality control teams to ensure seamless integration of new processes and product introductions. Lead process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement recommendations to mitigate risks. Monitor process performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in efficiency, yield, and quality. Manage process engineering projects, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and execution. Train and mentor junior process engineers and plant operators on process technologies and safety procedures. Stay current with advancements in chemical engineering principles, technologies, and industry best practices. Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies to enhance production capabilities. Participate in design reviews and contribute to capital expenditure proposals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry. Proven experience in process design, scale-up, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex chemical processes. Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and reaction kinetics. Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools. In-depth understanding of process safety principles, HAZOP studies, and PSM regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong project management capabilities, with experience managing budgets and timelines. Effective communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills. Professional Engineer (PE) designation or eligibility is highly desirable. Experience with batch and continuous processing is required. Ability to work effectively on-site and collaborate with plant personnel.
