Our client, a leading agricultural enterprise, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Agronomist with a specialization in Crop Optimization to join their dynamic team in Mysuru, Karnataka, IN . This pivotal role will involve developing and implementing advanced agronomic strategies to enhance crop yields, improve quality, and ensure sustainable farming practices across a diverse range of crops. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth soil analysis, water management assessments, and pest/disease control planning. You will play a crucial part in researching and recommending cutting-edge farming technologies, including precision agriculture techniques, and advising on optimal planting schedules, fertilizer application, and irrigation methods. Your expertise will be vital in troubleshooting agricultural challenges and providing data-driven solutions to maximize farm productivity and profitability. This position requires a deep understanding of local soil types, climatic conditions, and common agricultural pests and diseases prevalent in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute comprehensive agronomic plans tailored to specific crops and local conditions. Conduct regular field assessments to monitor crop health, growth, and identify potential issues. Perform detailed soil and water testing, interpreting results to optimize nutrient and irrigation strategies. Research, evaluate, and recommend new agricultural technologies and sustainable practices. Provide expert guidance on pest and disease management, including integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. Collaborate with farm managers and field staff to ensure effective implementation of agronomic recommendations. Analyze yield data and other farm metrics to identify areas for improvement and track progress. Prepare detailed reports on field conditions, crop performance, and recommendations for stakeholders. Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and industry best practices in agronomy and agricultural science. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote eco-friendly farming techniques.

Qualifications

Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a closely related field. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in agronomy, preferably within the Indian agricultural context. Proven track record in crop yield improvement and sustainable farming practices. Strong knowledge of soil science, plant physiology, entomology, and plant pathology. Experience with precision agriculture tools and techniques is highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficiency in data analysis and report generation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and mentor others. Familiarity with the agricultural landscape and challenges in Karnataka.
