Our client, a leader in manufacturing and industrial operations, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Industrial Engineer to drive process optimization initiatives. This role is based in our **Oakville, Ontario, CA** facility. You will be responsible for analyzing existing industrial processes, identifying inefficiencies, and designing and implementing innovative solutions to improve productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This position requires a deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and advanced process modeling techniques. You will lead cross-functional teams in identifying root causes of operational issues and developing sustainable improvements. Key responsibilities include conducting time and motion studies, developing facility layouts, optimizing material flow, and implementing automation solutions. You will also be involved in capacity planning, production scheduling, and supply chain optimization. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully implementing significant process improvements in an industrial setting. Experience with simulation software, statistical analysis tools, and a strong understanding of manufacturing execution systems (MES) are essential. You will be adept at communicating complex technical information to diverse audiences, including management, engineers, and shop-floor personnel. We are looking for a strategic thinker and a hands-on implementer who is passionate about operational excellence and driving tangible business results. A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field is required; a Master's degree and/or professional certifications (e.g., CI P.E., LSS Black Belt) are highly desirable. Your ability to lead change, influence stakeholders, and foster a culture of continuous improvement will be critical to your success.
Key Responsibilities: Analyze current industrial processes to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Design and implement optimized workflows, layouts, and material handling systems. Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and enhance efficiency. Develop and utilize simulation models to evaluate process changes. Lead cross-functional teams in problem-solving and continuous improvement projects. Optimize production scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation. Implement new technologies and automation solutions. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials. Measure and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to process efficiency. Mentor junior industrial engineers and promote best practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline. 8+ years of experience in industrial engineering, with a focus on process optimization. In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies. Proficiency with process simulation and statistical analysis software. Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and ERP systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification is a plus.
