Our client, a leader in specialty chemical manufacturing, is seeking a highly accomplished and innovative Principal Chemical Engineer to lead critical projects and contribute to strategic research and development efforts in **Quebec City, Quebec, CA**. This senior role requires extensive technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in chemical process design, optimization, and scale-up. You will be responsible for tackling complex engineering challenges, driving innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency in our chemical processes.

Key responsibilities include leading the design, development, and implementation of new chemical processes and manufacturing technologies; conducting in-depth process simulations, feasibility studies, and pilot plant trials to evaluate and optimize chemical reactions and unit operations; providing expert technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams; ensuring all process designs and operations comply with stringent safety, environmental, and regulatory standards; troubleshooting and resolving complex operational issues in existing processes; collaborating with R&D, production, and quality assurance departments to ensure seamless technology transfer from lab to commercial scale; staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement; managing external engineering consultants and vendors; and developing and presenting technical reports and recommendations to senior management. This role is pivotal in shaping our future chemical manufacturing capabilities.

Required qualifications include a Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering, with significant experience in process design, scale-up, and optimization, is essential. Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and a strong understanding of chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics are required. Proven experience in managing complex engineering projects and leading technical teams is crucial. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills are a must. Strong knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., HAZOP, PSM) and environmental compliance is necessary. Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Professional Engineer (PE) designation is highly desirable.
