Our client, a highly respected and innovative engineering firm, is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join their established team in Oakville, Ontario, CA . This is a critical on-site role requiring hands-on involvement in complex construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, extensive experience in structural design, and proven leadership capabilities. You will be instrumental in overseeing the structural integrity and design aspects of major building and infrastructure developments.
Responsibilities: Lead the structural design process for a variety of construction projects, from conceptualization to completion. Perform complex structural analysis and calculations using advanced software. Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, standards, and regulations. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff. Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and quality. Review shop drawings and material submittals. Manage project timelines and budgets related to structural engineering aspects. Identify and resolve structural issues that may arise during design and construction. Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and new materials. Prepare proposals and participate in client presentations.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Master's degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ontario. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role. Extensive experience in the design of various building structures (e.g., commercial, residential, institutional). Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit). Thorough understanding of building codes (e.g., NBC, CSA) and design standards. Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Experience in seismic design and retrofitting is a plus. Commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work.
