Job Description
As a Lead Production Engineer at our globally recognized automotive manufacturing client in Thane, Maharashtra, IN, you will play a crucial role in optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety on the production floor. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing and managing all aspects of the production engineering department, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining robust manufacturing processes to meet production targets, quality standards, and cost objectives.
- Leading and mentoring a team of production engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development.
- Identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the production line and implementing corrective actions to improve throughput and reduce waste.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
- Collaborating with design and R&D teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and facilitate smooth product launches.
- Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all production processes.
- Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the manufacturing facility.
- Implementing and managing new technologies and automation solutions to enhance production capabilities.
- Analyzing production data, preparing reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), and presenting findings to senior management.
- Troubleshooting complex production issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Managing relationships with equipment suppliers and service providers.
Qualifications required for this role include:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in production engineering within the automotive manufacturing sector.
- Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive production processes, including assembly, stamping, welding, and painting.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process optimization techniques.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
