Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Lead Agronomist to spearhead their precision agriculture initiatives. This role is crucial for integrating advanced technologies into farming practices to optimize resource use, enhance crop productivity, and promote sustainability. You will lead a team of agronomists and collaborate closely with farmers to implement data-driven agricultural solutions. This is a field-intensive position requiring extensive on-site engagement with agricultural operations.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute comprehensive precision agriculture strategies, leveraging data from sensors, drones, satellite imagery, and other sources. Lead the implementation of variable rate application technologies for fertilizers, pesticides, and water. Analyze agricultural data to provide actionable insights for optimizing planting, irrigation, and harvesting processes. Train and mentor a team of agronomists and field technicians on precision farming techniques and technologies. Collaborate with technology partners and equipment manufacturers to test and integrate new precision agriculture tools. Advise farmers on soil health management, crop nutrient requirements, and integrated pest management (IPM) strategies based on precise data analysis. Conduct field trials and research to evaluate the effectiveness of precision farming interventions. Develop economic models to demonstrate the return on investment (ROI) of precision agriculture practices for farmers. Stay current with advancements in agricultural technology, including IoT, AI, and machine learning applications in farming. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings, recommendations, and project outcomes. Foster strong relationships with the farming community, agricultural cooperatives, and research institutions. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and promote sustainable agricultural practices. Manage project budgets and timelines for precision agriculture deployments. Qualifications:

Master's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Soil Science, or a related field. A Ph.D. is advantageous. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in agronomy, with a significant focus on precision agriculture and farm management technologies. Demonstrated expertise in leveraging data analytics, GIS, remote sensing, and agricultural software platforms. Proven experience in implementing and managing precision farming projects. Strong knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, pest management, and sustainable agricultural practices. Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills. Ability to translate complex technical information into practical advice for farmers. Experience with variable rate technology (VRT) and farm management information systems (FMIS). Proficiency in relevant software such as GIS applications, data analysis tools, and drone imagery platforms. Willingness to travel extensively within the agricultural regions of Surat, Gujarat, IN and surrounding areas. Valid driver's license.
