Our client, a leading Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company, is seeking a motivated and innovative Product Development Technologist to join their dynamic team in Vaughan, Ontario, CA . This hands-on role is integral to the creation, improvement, and launch of new products that meet consumer demands and market trends. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background, a passion for food science or related fields, and experience in product formulation, testing, and scale-up processes within the FMCG sector.
Responsibilities: Develop and formulate new food products, from concept to commercialization, ensuring alignment with market trends and consumer preferences. Conduct benchtop formulation and pilot plant trials, optimizing product attributes such as taste, texture, appearance, and shelf life. Perform sensory evaluations and analyze consumer feedback to refine product formulations. Collaborate with the R&D team, marketing, and manufacturing to ensure successful product launches. Prepare product specifications, manufacturing process instructions, and quality control guidelines. Conduct ingredient sourcing and evaluation, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness. Stay current with industry innovations, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in product development. Troubleshoot production issues related to product quality and consistency. Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting timelines and objectives. Conduct shelf-life studies and stability testing for new and existing products. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline. Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development within the FMCG industry, preferably in food or beverages. Proven experience in product formulation, benchtop development, and pilot plant operations. Knowledge of food processing techniques, ingredient functionality, and quality control principles. Strong understanding of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GFSI). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with sensory analysis and statistical software is a plus. Ability to manage projects and meet tight deadlines.
