Responsibilities

Assist licensed electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures. Learn and apply electrical codes, blueprints, and technical diagrams to perform duties safely and effectively. Pull electrical wires through conduits and holes in walls and floors. Install control and distribution apparatus, such as transformers, and circuit breakers. Connect wiring to control panels, power transfer switches, and other components. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for repairs. Install and maintain lighting systems, power supply systems, and communication systems. Troubleshoot electrical issues and diagnose malfunctions. Use hand and power tools, including voltage testers, multimeters, and oscilloscopes. Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, codes, and protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Participate actively in classroom instruction and on-the-job training sessions. Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation. Assist in the preparation of material estimates and work orders. Provide support during emergency repairs and service calls. Develop proficiency in various electrical installation techniques and best practices. Build foundational knowledge of electrical theory and principles. Collaborate effectively with journeyman electricians and other team members. Follow instructions carefully and demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills. Contribute to a positive and safe team dynamic.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years of age. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Good physical condition, including the ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions and confined spaces. Excellent communication and listening skills. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. A strong commitment to workplace safety. Basic understanding of tools and construction environments is a plus. Willingness to commit to the duration of the apprenticeship program, typically 4-5 years. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Eagerness to learn and develop skills in the electrical trade. Proficiency in basic mathematics and an understanding of measurements. Professional attitude and work ethic.
