Job Description
Are you a technical communicator with a passion for high-performance yachting? Our valued client, Ignition Marine, is seeking a Service Advisor to act as the vital link between clients and their expert technical team. In this fast-paced role, you won't just answer phones; you will translate complex mechanical issues into clear solutions, orchestrate service schedules, and drive the client experience. You will be the voice of a knowledge-edge marine company, ensuring that every vessel—from recreational runabouts to commercial ships—receives world-class support.
WHY JOIN IGNITION MARINE SERVICES?
Ignition Marine is an ISO 9001-accredited marine solutions provider based in North Vancouver that delivers comprehensive services for vessels ranging from recreational to commercial ships. Acting as a premier "Pacific Northwest Marine Centre," the company specializes in yacht sales and brokerage while operating a full-service technical department that handles mechanical engine repairs, electrical systems, structural fibreglass fabrication, and complete vessel refits. The broad scope of expertise extends to specialized offerings such as marine repowering, insurance claim repairs, professional skipper services, and canvas fabrication, all supported by a team of certified marine engineers and technicians focused on high-performance quality control.
What You Will Do
You are the bridge between the client’s needs and the engine room. Your organization and communication skills ensure projects stay on course and on budget.
- Rapid-Response Communication: Own the client relationship by responding to inquiries within a 2-hour window. You will maintain transparent communication to protect the 95% client retention rate.
- Precision Estimating: Create accurate service quotes and estimates. You apply a technical mindset to verify parts compatibility—knowing the difference between an O-ring and a filter—and accurately estimate labour hours.
- Workflow Orchestration: Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Parts Manager, and Service Supervisor to coordinate scheduling, lift bookings, and technician dispatch.
- Financial Integrity: Assist with the invoicing lifecycle, ensuring all labour and parts are accurately captured, and payments are collected before boat delivery.
- Data Command: Maintain rigorous data accuracy in management systems, updating engine hours, serial numbers, and client profiles to build a comprehensive service history.
- Delivery Excellence: Personally oversee the boat delivery experience, walking clients through completed work and ensuring the vessel is pristine, and keys are tagged.
The Experience, Skills, And Competencies You Bring
You are a multitasker who stays calm under pressure. You don't need to be a mechanic, but you must speak their language.
- Industry Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in the yachting marine industry (service or operations) is required.
- Technical Fluency: You must have a technical mindset with knowledge of marine engines (Mercury, Yamaha, Volvo, Cummins). You understand technical manuals and can explain repairs to non-technical clients.
- Digital Proficiency: Advanced computer skills are non-negotiable. You must be comfortable operating multiple systems simultaneously, including scheduling software, inventory management, and Outlook.
- Communication Mastery: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for managing client expectations and de-escalating conflicts with diplomacy.
- Organizational Agility: Proven ability to manage multiple open work orders, track shifting priorities, and coordinate across departments in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Customer Satisfaction: The company prides itself on having more than 95% returning customers, making the ability to maintain these loyal relationships critical.
- Personal Resilience: Personally resilient, with the capacity to demonstrate a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
What Ignition Marine Offers
- Career Growth: Ignition Marine values loyalty and long-term potential. This role is a pathway to deeper technical knowledge and future opportunities within the company.
- The opportunity to work with a respected and established brand in the marine industry.
- A comprehensive benefits package with 100% company-paid health benefits.
- Holiday shutdown time-off in addition to vacation days.
- A fast-growing, "work hard, play hard" team that values loyalty, harmony, and high performance.
- Industry Exposure: Gain hands-on experience with top-tier brands like MAN, Mercury, Volvo, and Garmin in an ISO 9001:2015 accredited facility.
