Associate, Private Equity Investment

Our client is a Toronto-based private equity firm which targets investment opportunities in the Canadian lower middle market – focusing on business services, value-added distribution and high return on invested capital businesses. They bring a programmatic approach to value creation through data analytics, sales force growth, and execution of buy and build strategies. Recent growth in investments and a strong pipeline has created the need to add to their team at the Associate level. An exciting opportunity which offers tremendous experience working along side a highly talented team of experienced private equity investment professionals.

Job Description

• Associate will work closely with the Partners across a mix of opportunities for new investments and eventually portfolio value creation
• Work in a small deal team and will be exposed to the full spectrum of private equity investing including investment thesis development, evaluation of new platform investments, deal execution, identification and execution of add-on acquisitions, and portfolio management
• Prepare research, evaluation and analysis of industries and market sectors to develop an investment thesis and strategy
• Involved in fundraising and investor relations alongside Partners in creating presentations, due diligence materials, communications, etc.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of previous experience in investment banking, principal investing, consulting or corporate finance/transaction advisory
• Undergraduate degree with strong academic standing
• Fluency with financial statements, modeling,and capital structure
• Great teammate with strong interpersonal skills
• Solid analytical skills, strategic insight, industry perspective and intellectual curiosity
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Eligibility to work in Canada and the ability and willingness to travel
• High level of proficiency in MS Office products (specifically Excel and PowerPoint) and financial modeling skills
