Welcome to Payne Hay & Straw! We are hiring a Farm Equipment Operator to join our team in Culpeper, VA (about 70 miles southwest of Washington DC). In this role you will be assisting in day-to-day operations of the farm, including planting, harvesting, and maintaining hay, wheat, and straw.

We are a family-owned and operated agriculture operation located in northern Virginia. We grow roughly 2,000 acres of hay, wheat for grain, and straw. We are committed to maintaining a professional but relaxed working environment where respect, hard work, and safety are prioritized. While we operate in a professional capacity selling directly to consumers, we strive to keep the work atmosphere supportive and enjoyable.

What you will be doing:

• Assist in day-to-day operations of the farm, including planting, harvesting, and maintaining crops such as hay, wheat, and straw.
• Operate and maintain farm and agriculture equipment, such as tractors, balers, and combines (based on skill level).
• Applying herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers as needed.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment as required.
• Maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

This job is for you if you have:

• Prior farming and agriculture experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
• Professional, respectful, and dedicated to your work.
• Strong work ethic with ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to learn new tasks and farming techniques.
• Prior truck driving experience with a CDL is a bonus but not required.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Spraying and applicating experience is preferred but not required.
