Elementary Itinerant Educational Assistant System Support
100% Regular (10 month work year)
$29.54-$36.70
Under the direction of the Program Manager, Educational Assistants, the Itinerant Educational Assistant (IEA) provides collaborative, proactive support to schools. This role supports a tiered service delivery model, prioritizing Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions with some Tier 3 interventions as needed in consultation with the multi-disciplinary team. The IEA enhances student success by coaching staff, modeling strategies, and building capacity in collaboration with school teams.
Key responsibilities include facilitating social-emotional skill groups, resource development and professional learning initiatives. Experience in Autism/Developmental Disabilities, Early Learning, Mental Health and proficiency in behavior management systems (BMS) are essential assets. Staff are expected to travel between schools.
Qualifications And Experience Required
- Child and Youth Worker diploma, DSW diploma, or equivalent combination of skills, education and experience required.
- Experience working with children with a variety of exceptionalities and settings, including autism is required.
- Experience (5 years) supporting student mental health and well-being, Autism/DD, Early Learning, Behaviour Management Systems certification, Applied Behaviour Analysis preferred, Collaborative Problem Solving preferred, First Aid, CPR (current), Suicide Prevention Training preferred, vehicle required
Knowledge Or Skills Required
- Coaching and modeling skills to build staff capacity
- Facilitates/co facilitates small group social-emotional skill building activities
- Works in collaboration with the school Multi-Disciplinary team
- Developing and presenting professional learning resources and workshops
- Excellent report writing skills, ability to interact collaboratively with school staff, administrators, families and community agencies required
Additional Comments : Access to a vehicle and a valid Driver’s License is required to cover a wide geographic area
Who can apply:In accordance with the Student Support Personnel's Collective Agreement, O.S.S.T.F. District 25, and further to Articles 23.04 and 23:07 qualified regular part-time employees are eligible to increase their status and apply to part-time term vacancies if it does not interfere with their regular assignment, subject to Article 13:03; (i.e. 30 minutes between assignments or travel time, whichever is greater, without impact on current part-time hours of work). Regular full-time employees are not eligible to apply for term vacancies
NOTE: As per the SSP Collective Agreement, Casual EAs currently in terms for the 2025/2026 school year that ends June 26, 2026 are not eligible to apply unless to increase status.
Salary:Effective September 1, 2025, new regular and full year term Educational Assistants who are hired with at least four (4) years of related experience, as determined by the Employer, shall be placed at Step 4 of the salary grid.
This provision has no retroactive effect.
