Farm Coach In-House (Organic Farming)

Role purpose The Farm Coach will lead learning, engagement, and communication around organic farming for children, adults, families, schools, and corporate visitors. This role requires strong working knowledge of organic farming systems, the ability to teach hands-on and classroom-style sessions, and the writing skills to create social media content and concept notes on crops, vegetables, and landscape plants.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct engaging farm-based learning sessions for children, parents, adult learners, school groups, corporate groups, and resident families, using age-appropriate and practical teaching methods.
  • Teach core organic farming practices such as composting, soil health, seed selection, plant propagation, crop planning, nutrient management, natural pest control, and safe, sustainable growing methods.
  • Develop simple, accurate learning material, farm notes, concept notes, and practice guides on organic farming techniques for field crops, vegetables, herbs, and landscape plants.
  • Create clear social media copy, captions, short educational text, and promotional content related to farm activities, seasonal crops, workshops, and learning outcomes.
  • Support workshops, farm walks, demonstrations, and seasonal programs, ensuring participants feel welcome, engaged, and confident asking questions.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, school leaders, corporate stakeholders, and organic-living families through relatable communication and professional comportment.
  • Coordinate with the farm and program team to align teaching content with the cropping calendar, seasonal activities, and visitor experience goals.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Organic Farming, Agriculture, Horticulture, Sustainable Agriculture, or a closely related field.
  • Strong knowledge of organic farming practices, especially for crops, vegetables, kitchen gardens, and landscape planting, is a core requirement for training-oriented agriculture roles.
  • 2 5 years of relevant experience in farm education, agricultural training, organic farming practice, or experiential learning is preferred, especially in roles involving field visits, supervision, or community engagement.

Skills and attributes

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical farming concepts in simple, engaging language for both children and adults.
  • Comfortable teaching a wide range of audiences, including students, parents, school heads, corporate leaders, and resident families, which aligns with common farm educator expectations for community-facing roles.
  • Strong writing ability for social media, educational copy, concept notes, and farm documentation.
  • Warm, joyful, patient, and approachable personality, with strong interpersonal presence and professional behavior suited to public-facing educational work.
  • Good presentation skills, observational ability, and confidence in leading hands-on demonstrations and interactive sessions.

Working conditions

  • This is an in-house role based at the farm/site.
  • Availability on weekends is required, with Tuesday as the weekly off.
  • The role may involve outdoor work, walking across the site, seasonal programming, and interaction with mixed-age groups throughout the day.

Preferred profile

  • Experience in school programs, farm-based education, sustainability education, or community learning environments will be an advantage.
