About our Program

At Openhouse, we pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive music program that goes beyond just learning an instrument. Our students gain exposure to a wide range of instruments, including percussion, string, and vocal categories, which helps them understand music as a whole. By encouraging exploration and creativity, we aim to build not just musicians but confident and well-rounded individuals.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach students of various ages, with a special focus on managing and engaging younger children
• Deliver lessons that incorporate a variety of instruments from percussion, string, and vocal categories to provide a holistic music education
• Continuously collaborate with the program team to refine and improve the curriculum based on student needs and feedback
• Develop fun, interactive, and age-appropriate lessons that keep students excited about learning music
• Organise and lead student performances, ensuring students have the opportunity to showcase their progress and gain stage confidence
• Communicate with parents about student progress and provide suggestions for practice and development at home

Requirement

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with young children and parents
• Mastery in one or more of the following instruments and a basic understanding of all: keyboard/piano, drums, guitar, or Western Vocals. Having a grade certificate in any of the instruments is a plus
• Ability to read staff notation and a solid understanding of basic music theory
• Prior teaching experience, especially with children, is preferred but not mandatory
• A passion for music education and the ability to create a fun and engaging learning environment
• Flexibility and creativity in lesson planning, with a focus on adapting to the needs of each student.
