Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Associate Veterinarian role based in McLean, VA. The Associate Veterinarian will perform physical examinations, diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions, and provide preventive care, including vaccinations, wellness screenings, and parasite control. Daily responsibilities include developing and discussing treatment plans with clients, performing soft tissue surgeries and dental procedures, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as laboratory work, radiographs, and other imaging. The role also involves maintaining detailed medical records, collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff to deliver efficient, high-quality care, and ensuring that patient safety and comfort are prioritized. The Associate Veterinarian will actively participate in client education, support follow-up care, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work culture.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution and an active, in-good-standing veterinary license (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of Virginia.
  • Clinical skills in small animal medicine, including physical examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and preventive care for dogs and cats.
  • Proficiency or strong interest in general surgery and dentistry, including spay/neuter procedures, mass removals, and basic dental extractions.
  • Ability to interpret diagnostic tests, such as bloodwork, urinalysis, radiographs, and other imaging, and integrate findings into comprehensive care plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain medical conditions and treatment options clearly and compassionately to clients. Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining professionalism and respect.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including accurate medical recordkeeping and attention to detail in all aspects of patient care.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, evidence-based medicine, and staying current with advances in veterinary care.
  • Availability to work a full-time schedule that may include some evenings or weekends based on practice needs.
  • Previous small animal practice experience or completion of a high-quality internship is preferred, but motivated new graduates are also encouraged to apply.
