Job description
Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human
Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.
This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.
The Role
We are looking for a highly curious, self-directed Full-stack engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges for our Digital Technology team. You are a versatile developer comfortable navigating everything from front-end interfaces (React/Next.js) and CMS environments (AEM) to cloud infrastructure (Vercel/Cloudflare). You possess an 'ownership' mindset: you don’t wait for assignments, you identify gaps and help drive plans, troubleshoot production incidents through to resolution, and drive technical alignment between frontend, backend, and design teams.
You have a sharp eye for great UX/UI. You enjoy partnering closely with designers to refine interactive experiences, ensuring that technical implementations not only work flawlessly but also feel intuitive and polished for the end user.
You are a proactive innovator who experiments with new technologies, including AI-driven tools, to optimize our systems and improve developer workflows.
You will:
- Participate in cross-team initiatives from end to end, including code reviews, design reviews, operational robustness discussions, and release planning.
- Translate UI/UX designs and wireframes into high-quality, efficient, and reusable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code.
- Optimize front-end performance by considering page load speed, caching strategies, and asset management.
- Contribute to documentation (instructional, pitch, and technical specification), including front-end component documentation and style guides.
- Maintain a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly in regard to accessibility (WCAG), usability, front-end frameworks, and emerging web technologies, and keep team members informed as appropriate, with a view to incorporating these in future projects, staying ahead of the market, and positioning yourself and the company as a digital specialist.
- Leverage AI tools and agentic workflows to accelerate development, automate testing, and prototype new features, proactively evaluating where AI can drive architectural value.
- Partner closely with the design team, acting as a technical consultant who provides early-stage feedback on feasibility, interaction patterns, and ways to enhance the end-user experience.
- Develop polished CSS animations that elevate the interface, ensuring that motion is both visually engaging and optimized for performance across all devices.
You might be a good fit if you:
- Enjoy "Systems Thinking": You love working on small, collaborative teams where you can see the direct impact of your code across the entire company.
- Advanced Full-Stack Technical Breadth: 5+ years of experience with:
- Front-end: Expert React (Hooks, Context, State management), modern CSS/styling (styled-components, CSS modules), and accessibility best practices.
- Back-end/Integration: Node.js, API design, and experience bridging frontend components with CMS environments like AEM.
- Infrastructure: Experience with Vercel, AWS, and Cloudflare.
- Ownership Mentality: You are comfortable being dropped into an unfamiliar area, exploring the constraints, and proposing a path forward without needing constant guidance.
- Intellectual Curiosity: You stay ahead of industry trends and evaluate new technologies (including AI tools) based on their ability to solve real-world problems.
- Strong Communication: You have a user-centric attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. You excel at distilling complex technical data into clear and actionable insights. While you may use AI to assist in troubleshooting, you ensure your communication is thoughtful and human-curated. You prioritize concise recommendations over raw AI output to keep the team effectively informed.
Extra Points:
- Experience with headless AEM implementations.
- Experience working with UI design tools such as Figma.
- Knowledge of front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Cypress, Playwright).
- Ability to leverage LLMs (such as Claude) and AI-assisted workflows to build agentic solutions, automate complex coding tasks, and accelerate development cycles.
