Job Summary
The Turbine Desk Engineer is responsible for monitoring and controlling turbine and auxiliary systems from the control room to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient plant operation. The role includes performance monitoring, troubleshooting, coordination with field personnel, and maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control steam turbine operations through DCS/SCADA systems.
- Maintain turbine operating parameters within prescribed limits.
- Coordinate with field operators for routine and emergency operations.
- Monitor turbine efficiency, vibration levels, temperatures, pressures, and load conditions.
- Analyze operational trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare shift reports, log sheets, and operational records.
- Support turbine start-up, shutdown, and synchronization activities.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams during preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with plant safety and operational procedures.
- Assist in achieving plant generation and performance targets.
Qualification
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) / Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) / ITI
Experience
- DME with minimum 5 years of experience in turbine operations.
- BE with minimum 3 years of experience in turbine operations.
- NPTI with minimum 3 years of experience.
- ITI with minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in turbine operations.
Mandatory Requirements
- NPTI Certification.
- Experience in steam turbine operation within thermal power plants.
- Exposure to DCS-based operations preferred.
