What We Need:

Oak Valley Health is looking for a creative and dynamic Senior Corporate Communications Specialist to join our fast-paced organization.

The Senior Corporate Communications

Specialist will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing high quality, strategic communications to support Oak Valley Health’s goals and priorities. As an integral part of the Oak Valley Health team, this role will lead communication activities for strategic projects and clinical initiatives within the organization.

Working within a dynamic Corporate Communications team, the Senior Corporate Communications Specialist will draw on their extensive experience in strategic communications to develop and execute communications plans consistent with the organization’s Strategic Plan.

The Senior Corporate Communications

Specialist will plan and execute communications strategies in a variety of areas including media relations, digital marketing, event planning, internal and external communications, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer and have knowledge of the health care system and media relations, and be comfortable working in a large, complex organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver core communication materials such as communications plan, speaking remarks, key messages, social media content, reports, and presentations
  • Research, write, and edit engaging and compelling articles/web content that advance Oak Valley Health’s reputation through storytelling
  • Oversee and support corporate communication campaigns
  • Build strong relationships with hospital stakeholders, including staff, physicians, volunteers, patients, etc. to gather relevant content to inform and drive communications activities
  • Provide ongoing media monitoring of health and governmental news
  • Provide advice and counsel to senior members of the hospital’s leadership and clinical team
  • Provide a full range of communications support including writing, media relations, issues management, event planning, crisis communications, and internal and external communications
  • Manage the communications activities of a concentrated portfolio of select hospital programs and strategic initiatives
  • Act as the lead/subject matter expert on a key communications function within the team. This will include providing overall strategy oversight and management of one of the following: Media relations, social media, website/intranet, or e-newsletters
  • Work within Oak Valley Health brand guidelines and writing style guide to champion the brand, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Collaborate with digital and design teams (in-house and external suppliers) for special projects as required
  • Provide crisis communication and issues management support in the event of an emergency
  • Take on communications on-call duties (rotating schedule)

What you bring to the role:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent, with a minimum of five years of related experience
  • Superior writing skills; thorough knowledge of Canadian Press (CP) style
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to facilitate excellent working relationships with staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Trustworthy, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and have good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to develop strong relationships within the community
