Job Description
Storytelling and Communication Lead
Job Title: Storytelling and Communication Lead
Organisation: Nimaya Foundation
Location: Mumbai
Work Mode: On-ground field visits plus remote work; Full-time
Engagement Period: Minimum 1 year engagement period
What’s exciting about this role?
What if you could lead the storytelling for an organisation redefining the future of work for young women?
This is not just a content role, it’s your stage to tell stories that truly matter- ones that have the potential to drive more opportunities for young women. You will work closely with the Nimaya Naaris, capturing real, unfiltered moments of change and turning them into narratives that move audiences.
You will have the ownership to shape how Nimaya is seen and remembered, building a brand that reflects its mission, impact and value. If you’re driven to create content that goes beyond metrics and genuinely shifts perspectives, this role offers the space to experiment, take risks and make that impact tangible.
About Nimaya Foundation
Co-founded by Navya Nanda and Samyak Chakrabarty, Nimaya is a future-ready not-for-profit that empowers young women from socio-economic barriers to thrive in the future of work. We are on a mission to ensure our Naaris have an edge in leveraging AI at work instead of being at risk of being replaced by it.
Our Guiding Question:
Why can’t a rickshaw driver's daughter land a job at Google?
Unlike traditional skill-building NGOs, Nimaya is laser-focused on preparing women for the AI-powered digital economy; not just with skills, but with aspiration and identity.
Through our flagship programs — GenAI Ready Naari and Future Ready Naari Fellowship — we equip our learners with 21st-century skills, real-world exposure, and the confidence to pursue meaningful career pathways. To date, 10,000+ Nimaya Naaris across 5 states have benefited from our interventions. Our work is supported by partnerships with leading institutions, including the Government of India’s- YuvaAI Mission.
Mindset
- You are deeply curious about people, their journeys, lived realities, and the stories that often go unheard.
- You can turn raw, imperfect moments into stories that genuinely move people.
- You are quick to act, when you see a story, you capture it, shape it, and bring it to life without overthinking.
- You don’t wait for briefs, you see possibilities, define the narrative, and take ownership of bringing it alive.
- You don’t just manage content, you take ownership of turning a mission into a brand people remember.
- If you’re looking for a structured, instruction-led role, this may not be the right fit.
Background
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in social media, content creation, or storytelling roles where you have owned content end-to-end
- Proven experience in managing and growing Instagram and/or LinkedIn, not just posting, but building presence and narrative
- Demonstrated ability to take a content idea from scratch to execution including scripting, coordinating capture, and publishing
- Strong experience in reels, short-form video, and storytelling-led content, with a portfolio that reflects your thinking, not just output
- Prior experience in impact storytelling / NGOs / education / grassroots work is preferred or a clear ability to work closely with on-ground realities.
Your Core Responsibilities
- Own content end-to-end : from identifying stories on the ground to scripting, producing, publishing, and optimising performance based on insights.
- Plan and manage a monthly content calendar : aligned with program milestones, campaigns, and real-time storytelling opportunities.
- Identify and translate real-time impact into compelling stories : especially transformation journeys that show real change in the lives of our Naaris
- Conceptualise and script high-impact reels : with strong hooks, clear narratives, and outcomes that make audiences feel and understand the impact of our work. Good content is not about hyperbole, it’s about telling the right stories
- Lead on-ground content execution : work closely with field teams, create actionable briefs, and ensure authenticity and quality in every piece of content.
- Continuously analyse content performance : derive insights, iterate quickly, and improve storytelling effectiveness across platforms.
- Build and strengthen Nimaya’s digital voice and presence : shape brand perception, drive audience growth, and ensure powerful stories consistently reach the right audience.
- Take ownership of turning the organisation’s mission into a distinctive, memorable digital brand : not just managing content, but building a narrative people connect with.
If you are excited to build meaningful stories and contribute to a mission-driven organisation, we encourage you to apply.
