Manufacturing Engineer (Part-Time, Remote)

Role Overview

We are looking for a part-time (remote) Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in

diverse manufacturing processes, complex machine assembly drawings, and hands-on experience

in BoM generation, RFQ processes, costing, and sourcing support.

The selected candidate will work closely with the in-house software product development team as

a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to interpret complex CAD assemblies (2D drawings, 3D parts, and

isometric models) and provide manufacturing process expertise. The role involves providing

expertise in BoM creation and RFQ workflows, delivering manufacturability insights for OEM

clients, and guiding the team on software product requirements and testing.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive, aerospace, or similar OEM manufacturing

environments

  • Proven experience in generating and managing BoM and supporting RFQ processes from

engineering drawings

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: machining, sheet metal, casting, welding,

and surface treatments

  • Experience with Engineering BoM and Manufacturing BoM
  • Ability to convert engineering drawings into structured BoM
  • Exposure to RFQ processes, costing, and sourcing support
  • Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings (2D/3D), including GD&T fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools and assembly structures
  • Knowledge of assembly planning, operation method sheets, and work instructions for large

assemblies

  • Familiarity with virtual manufacturing and digital build concepts
  • Basic understanding of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing constraints
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for parts and assemblies
  • Independently validate the the generated Bill of Materials (BoM) from engineering drawing
  • Analyze manufacturability based on processes such as machining, fabrication, and casting
  • Validate the RFQ preparation by cost drivers, materials, and process requirements
  • Validate assembly structures, part hierarchy, and completeness
  • Identify missing information, inconsistencies, and risks in engineering drawings
  • Collaborate with software teams to improve automation of manufacturing workflows
  • Test and validate software features related to manufacturing process automation

Nice to Have

  • Experience with PLM/PDM systems
  • Exposure to automation, scripting, or AI/ML in manufacturing workflows
  • Prior experience working with engineering software products.
