About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive UK Bookkeeper with strong Xero experience to support bookkeeping operations for UK-based businesses. The ideal candidate should be comfortable handling high transaction volumes, clearing bookkeeping backlogs, performing reconciliations, and identifying discrepancies independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records in Xero.
- Process and reconcile bank, credit card, PayPal, and other payment platform transactions.
- Record and reconcile inter-account and intercompany fund movements.
- Post sales invoices, purchase invoices, credit notes, and supplier bills.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure transactions are correctly coded.
- Reconcile customer and supplier account statements.
- Investigate and resolve bookkeeping discrepancies and unreconciled items.
- Support VAT return preparation by ensuring records are complete and accurate.
- Assist with month-end bookkeeping procedures and reporting.
- Clear historical bookkeeping backlogs and bring accounts up to date.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Xero.
- Good understanding of UK bookkeeping and VAT principles.
- Experience handling high-volume transactions.
- Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Experience reconciling e-commerce platforms and payment processors including Amazon, eBay, Back Market and OnBuy:
- Order-to-payout reconciliation
- Marketplace fee reconciliation
- Settlement and payment matching
