Job Title: Jr Designer (UI/UX & Mobile Design)
Location-Type: Remote (EST Hours)
Start Date Is: ASAP
Duration: 12 month contract with opportunity to convert
Compensation Range: $40-$49.50/hr W2
Benefits: Eligible for Health, Dental, Vision, 401K

Job Description: The client is seeking a Jr Designer to support the ongoing evolution of the rec.gov web and mobile experience within a large-scale enterprise environment. This individual will work across multiple product streams and microservice teams to help improve UI consistency, scalability, accessibility, and overall user experience across web and mobile platforms.
The role is heavily focused on Figma design systems, reusable component architecture, and mobile-first product design within a collaborative Agile environment.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Design intuitive user experiences across web and mobile applications (iOS & Android)
Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs in Figma
Work within and expand large-scale Figma component libraries and design systems
Maintain consistency across products, pages, and application experiences
Partner closely with product owners, developers, and cross-functional teams during Agile sprint cycles
Take notes, requirements, and wireframes from meetings and independently execute design solutions
Support repository cleanup, design audits, and scalable UI organization efforts
Balance work across multiple microservice and vertical product teams simultaneously
Participate in design reviews, critiques, and iterative feedback cycles
Contribute to responsive, accessible, and mobile-first design initiatives
Minimum Requirements:
2+ years of experience in UI/UX, product design, or digital design environments
Strong experience with Figma, including component libraries, auto-layout, and scalable design systems
Experience creating and maintaining reusable UI components across enterprise applications
Experience designing for mobile applications (iOS and Android)
Strong understanding of responsive design, typography, layout, usability, and accessibility principles
Experience collaborating within Agile/Scrum product environments
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and execute with minimal oversight
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders
Experience taking wireframes or product requirements and translating them into polished UI solutions
Experience using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting high-traffic or enterprise-scale eCommerce platforms
Experience working within large application ecosystems or microservice-driven product teams
Familiarity with React component-based frameworks and design-to-development handoff processes
Experience with design system governance and scalable UI architecture
Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
Experience with motion design or micro-interactions
Adobe, NN/Group, UX, or product design certifications
Experience supporting both web and mobile application design initiatives
