Job Summary

We are looking for a Project Accountant to support the financial management of our projects. The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of projects, including billing, accounts receivable, and profitability analysis. This role will be working closely with Project Managers and Director of Finance to monitor project performance, maintain accurate project data in Deltek Vantagepoint, and ensure alignment with budgets and financial targets.

The position also supports financial reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management, while maintaining accurate records, overseeing reconciliations, and ensuring projects are completed with full financial accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed project financial analysis, including KPI tracking, margin monitoring, and profitability assessments
• Manage accounts receivable processes, including preparation of client billings (contract and time-based) and proactive collections follow-up
• Partner closely with Project Managers to monitor project performance, financial metrics, and overall project health
• Set up and maintain projects in Deltek Vantagepoint, including fee structures, phases, change orders, and billing configurations
• Track both active and pursuit projects in Deltek to ensure a comprehensive and up-to-date project portfolio
• Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records
• Maintain organized and current documentation for contracts, purchase orders, joint venture agreements, and client information
• Utilize resource management tools to support staffing planning, forecasting, and studio utilization tracking
• Support monthly financial reporting by preparing internal reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
• Collaborate with the General Accountant to monitor billable consultant costs and manage disbursement budgets
• Prepare and analyze Work in Progress (WIP) reports to ensure projects remain aligned with budget and billing expectations
• Oversee project closeouts, including final reconciliations to ensure completeness and financial accuracy

Experience

• 3–5+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably within architecture, engineering, or professional services environments
• Proven experience managing project billing, accounts receivable, and collections processes
• Strong understanding of project financials, including WIP, revenue recognition, budgeting, and forecasting
• Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint is highly preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
• Experience partnering with Project Managers to monitor project performance and financial health
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reconciliation processes

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
