Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Financial Journalist role based in Kochi. The Financial Journalist will research and report on business, markets, startups, and economic trends, with a focus on delivering accurate, timely, and engaging financial content. Daily responsibilities include tracking financial news, analyzing company performance, conducting interviews with industry stakeholders, and producing articles, explainers, and multimedia stories for new media platforms. The role involves collaborating with editors, video and social teams to adapt stories for digital formats, including short-form content, scripts, and social media posts. The journalist will also verify data, maintain ethical reporting standards, and stay informed about regulatory and policy developments affecting businesses and markets.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Business Journalism and Finance, with the ability to interpret financial statements, market trends, and economic indicators.
• Excellent Writing skills, including clear, concise, and engaging storytelling tailored to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Research, including data gathering, fact-checking, sourcing, and synthesizing complex information into accessible narratives.
• Comfort working with New Media platforms, including digital publishing, social media, and multimedia storytelling.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Economics, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Portfolio of published business or financial stories, preferably in digital or multimedia formats.
• Strong news judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy and ethical reporting.
• Ability to work on-site in Kochi, manage deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional creative teams.
