Job Description

Basic Functions:

Installs, repairs, replaces and maintains locks and locksets throughout the embassy complex as directed by the Building Maintenance Foreman, utilizing the work order system.

Specific Responsibilities Locksmith:

Locksmith installs, repairs, replaces the locks and locksets located in the core areas of the NEC that are not maintained by the Engineering Security Office.

Cuts keys and maintains adequate supply of key blanks and all other repair parts, materials and supplies for the proper execution of assigned tasks.

Utilizes a computer and various software programs to manufacture and laminate signs as requested by authorized work order.

Maintains adequate supply of padlocks and keys, to be issued upon receipt of authorized work order.

Specific Responsibilities Maintenance Technician:

Assists Employees of other crafts in execution of assigned tasks. May be required to work alone performing tasks that are within the incumbent’s skill and expertise, as determined by their supervisor. These tasks may be electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry. Other tasks as assigned.

Required Skills

Required Qualifications:

Must be 21 or older, have completed secondary school or possess GED.

Must be a certified/trained Locksmith or have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Locksmith.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in general building maintenance and or mechanical repair is desired.

Must have computer skills and knowledge of various programs to produce documents and maintain detailed data base records on key and tool inventories.

A Top Secret clearance is required.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.
